About US

The budget authorI'm a girl who was always taught well about money, both by example and experience. Living on a budget meant that if we wanted something we couldn’t afford, we didn’t buy it. We saved for it. Simple as that. I grew up in a home where needing a “new” (used) car meant the entire family did a paper route every week to help pay for it. Those days seem far gone from the culture that surrounds us now. We’ve become a country driven by satisfying our immediate wants, even if that means facing major financial regrets down the road. Businesses have infiltrated our minds with advertising and have convinced us that regardless of the size of our bank account, we can satisfy our cravings - right now! Life happens (and usually it happens way faster than we expect or imagine), and here we are years later, in a financial disaster. Expenses are higher now because we’re not only paying on the things we need & want now, but we're still paying on the wants we satisfied in our past. The credit is haunting us, and the businesses that sold us the temporary satisfaction we were once searching for are now gaining long-term satisfaction from our mistakes. The feeling is defeating, and the depression that accompanies this defeat is, at times, what sends us on another discouraging spin of the debt cycle. The pattern has to be broken, but when we are working paycheck to paycheck simply to survive, hope is, at times, lost. The overwhelming and intimidating question is: where does one go to search for the solution? With a daunting financial snapshot that is certainly not something most are proud to discuss, a safe place is needed. A place that contains organization, clarity, reality, hope, freedom, relief, and fun. A place where stress is alleviated, a realistic, exciting plan is set, and goals are achieved. This place has finally been born. It’s The Budget Author.
